UNIMA and Unesco join to celebrate International Peace Day

As I said in my last mail, we have established privileged links with the president of the Peace Committee of UNESCO, Mr Michel Thouzeau, to celebrate the

International Peace Day to be held on 21 September.

About 35 non-governmental organizations (NGOs) are part of the organizing committee, including the UNIMA. A contest is organized and our goal is to crown the best videos responding to the theme: “The puppets are involved for Peace”. The time limit for sending the videos is the day May 15, 2013.

The UNIMA is happy to inform you that this special day will be held in peace first in Charleville-Mézières, the Museum of the Ardennes, on September 21, 2013 before its closure in Paris at UNESCO headquarters on September 24.

Film Droomtheater “Public Familiarity in Feijenoord”

The movie “Public Familiarity in Feijenoord” made in the summer of 2011 shows how artists’ work can improve climate change within an area. In Holland everybody is familiar with the gruesome statistics of disadvantaged residents in the Rotterdam district Feijenoord. Prevailing poverty, poor health, shorter life expectancy, low perspective and bad eating habits affect their daily lives. Active art projects can help to just forget this all. The fairy atmosphere of the Dream Theatre performances inspire people, make them meet and move. In a lush green space, they maintain close interaction and mutual learning. The film shows how Dream Theatre increases quality of life. Also during summer holidays when 70% of residents have left to visit their home countries like Marocco and Turkey, high quality edutainment is vital for children, their parents and carers.
